How to Make an Electronic Press Kit (EPK) That Gets You Booked and Covered

An electronic press kit, or EPK, is one link that answers every question a journalist, promoter or curator might have about you. When someone is interested, they should not have to email you for a photo or a bio. If they do, many will simply move on.
What to include
- Short bio: two or three sentences, written in the third person. Who you are, where you are from, what you sound like, one notable fact.
- Long bio: 250 to 400 words with your story, releases and highlights. Writers copy from it, so keep it factual.
- Press photos: three to five high-resolution images in portrait and landscape, with the photographer's name for credit. At least one with plain space around you, for headlines.
- Music: links to your latest release and two or three best songs. A smartlink lets each person open their preferred platform.
- Video: your best music video and one live performance, if you have one.
- Press quotes and highlights: short quotes from reviews, notable radio plays, playlist adds and shows. Only real, attributable ones.
- Upcoming dates: releases and shows.
- Contact: one email for press and one for booking, if they are different.
- For promoters: a short technical rider and stage plot, plus the size of your line-up.
Format and hosting
Use a single web page, such as a hidden page on your website or a shared folder with a clear structure. Avoid sending a large PDF as an attachment. Name image files properly, for example mia-jensen-press-2026-01.jpg, so they are easy to find later.
Write a bio people can use
Weak: "Mia Jensen is a unique artist whose captivating sound transcends genres."
Better: "Mia Jensen is a pianist and songwriter from Bergen, Norway, who records her songs with field recordings from the coast. Her 2026 single 'Harbour Lights' was played on Norwegian national radio and added to several independent piano playlists."
Specific details give writers something to say. Update the bio after every release.
Keep it current
- Add new releases and quotes as they happen.
- Remove old photos when your look changes.
- Check every link before each campaign.
How to share it
Put the EPK link in your pitch emails, in your press release and in your social profiles' contact section. When you contact someone, send a short personal message with the EPK link at the end, not instead of the message. See how to email blogs and curators.
An EPK works best with music that is easy to find. Release with SpaceMedia so every link in it points to your music on every major platform.

Most major streaming services do not let every artist upload music directly. A distributor like SpaceMedia delivers your audio, artwork, metadata, and rights information to supported platforms so your release can appear on services such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, TikTok, and others.
Create an account, choose the plan that fits your needs, upload the final release files, review the details, and submit. SpaceMedia reviews Free submissions within 5 business days, Premium submissions within 2 business days, and Label submissions within 1 to 2 business days. Store publishing happens afterwards.
Independent music distribution lets artists release music to streaming, download, and social platforms without signing to a traditional record label. You stay in control of your music while using a distributor to deliver it to supported services.
With SpaceMedia, you can manage releases, artist details, earnings, and payout information from your account. All standard plans let users keep 100% of standard DSP royalties.
The Free plan lets artists release music without an upfront distribution fee and keep 100% of standard DSP royalties.
This gives new artists a way to start releasing music before paying for a yearly plan. Premium and Label add more primary-artist capacity and tools. All standard plans include 100% of standard DSP royalties.
Ja.
