How to Claim Your Artist Profile on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and More

Your music can be live on every store while your profiles still show no photo, no bio and no way for you to see who is listening. Claiming your artist profiles fixes that, and it only takes an afternoon. Do it as soon as your first release is delivered.

Before you start

• Use exactly the same artist name everywhere, including capitalisation and spacing.
• Have a square profile photo, a wide header image and a short bio ready.
• Have links to your website or social accounts; several platforms use them to verify you.

Spotify for Artists

Sign up at Spotify for Artists, search for your profile and request access. You can request access once your first release has been delivered to Spotify, even before release day. Once verified you can edit your bio and images, pitch unreleased songs to editors, add Canvas videos and see listener statistics. Our Spotify for Artists guide covers the tools in detail.

Apple Music for Artists

Sign in with an Apple Account, search for your artist page and request access. Apple verifies you through your distributor or your linked accounts. You get listener data for Apple Music and Shazam, and you can update your artist image.

Amazon Music for Artists

Download the Amazon Music for Artists app or use the website, claim your profile and verify. You get streaming statistics and can update your profile image.

YouTube: Topic channel and Official Artist Channel

When your music is delivered to YouTube Music, YouTube creates an automatic "Topic" channel for your releases. If you also run your own YouTube channel, the two can be merged into an Official Artist Channel. That gives you one channel with a music note badge, your releases and your videos in one place, and subscribers from both.

To qualify, your channel must represent only you and have no policy strikes, and your Topic channel needs at least three official releases. YouTube only accepts these requests from a distributor or label. The two channel names must match exactly.

Deezer, TIDAL and others

• Deezer for Creators: claim your profile to update images and see audience statistics.
• TIDAL Artist Home: claim your profile to manage your page and see data.
• SoundCloud and Audiomack: if you also upload there directly, connect those accounts to the same artist name.

Fixing a profile that shows the wrong music

Artists with common names sometimes find someone else's song on their page, or their song on someone else's page. Do not try to fix this by uploading again. Contact your distributor with the release, the store and the correct profile link, and the release can be moved to the right page.

After you are verified

• Add the same bio and photo everywhere, so listeners recognise you.
• Check the statistics once a week: where listeners come from and which playlists add you.
• Keep your profile updated before every release, not after.
