Biography

Born in New York but based in Switzerland, Sean Tyas is a highly prolific DJ and producer known for his hard yet uplifting brand of progressive trance. While his tracks are often dreamy or melodic, they also have an aggressive edge to them, similar to psy-trance or post-2010 dubstep and EDM. On occasion, he's produced tracks in other styles, such as drum'n'bass and breaks. He has performed at numerous dance music festivals and major clubs, charted in DJ Mag's annual Top 100 poll several consecutive years, and released several mix CDs and compilations, in addition to dozens of singles and remixes. Tyas began listening to techno at a young age, and first started producing tracks in 2000. Before long, he had remixed songs by P!nk and Moby, and started releasing 12"s of his own tracks. In 2004, he moved to Germany and collaborated with Michael Urgacz (Beam), resulting in a few singles on Beam Traxx. Soon after, Tyas relocated to Switzerland, and his career took off in 2006 after he won a Sander van Doorn remix contest and released the club hit "Lift." Accolades from the likes of Mixmag and Beatport started pouring in, and he began releasing mix CDs in 2007, including Live As... Vol. 4 (with John Askew) and the double-disc Trance World, Vol. 3. His 2009 singles "Seven Weeks" and "Melbourne" were also major club hits. In 2011, he established Tytanium Recordings and released the two-CD mix Tytanium Sessions Alpha. Tytanium 200 followed in 2013. In 2014, he signed with Black Hole Recordings, and his long-awaited full-length debut, Degeneration, arrived in 2016. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
