She is the winner of several major competitions, such as the 1990 Rostropovich Competition in Paris, the 1991 International Cello Competition in Helsinki, and the 1994 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, additionally receiving the Dutch Music Award and the 2000 Credit Suisse Groupe's Young Artist Award, which enabled her to perform at the 2000 Lucerne Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Zubin Mehta. Viersen has performed with many orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and many others.
