Born in Kigali, Shimirwa Mugaba Jean Marie known as Mugaba fell in love with music from as far as he can remember and by the age 11, he had already started filling exercise books with lyrics of his own. In 2003 he moved to Kampala, Uganda where he would spend most of his life as a teenager. He started out writing rap songs as he cites early musical influences from 50 Cent, Kanye West and Wyclef Jean. In 2008 his Uncle found out about his talent and paid for his first studio session and since then he never looked back. 
 Juggling academics with music, Mugaba later quit his Bachelor’s degree of science in Marketing at MUBS to learn music production in 2015 as the passion for the art superseded anything at the time. He cites losing his grandmom the same year who had raised him as a trigger for the decision too. By 2018, he was already producing music for himself and soon after he signed a record deal with Cosy Afrikane Productions which gave birth to “In my bed” a song that up to now is still a fan favorite but due to a difference in vision, the contract was shortlived and Mugaba asked for it to be terminated the following year. 
 In March, 2020; He released his debut Ep “Better Me” and started taking vocal lessons seriously since the covid breakout in a bid to make better records, He’s not about to stop raising the bar as in his own words he says “Am a Star”
