Born Drake Wallingford on June 19, 1993 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Drawol (dray-wall) grew up in New Albany a suburb of Louisville, Kentucky becoming a maverick on the mic blending intense bars and wordplay as a hip-hop artist. He is saluted by many for his rapid-fire flow that passionately grinds sound and emotion with clever storytelling for a relatable experience. Drawol’s flows are a melodic and syllabic journey through the joy and pain of life’s ups and downs. His lyrics often deal with his lived experience being biracial, of divorced parents, losing his stepbrother in Iraq, facing teen suicide after his dad’s arrest, rocky relationships, being an unwed father, and getting arrested during a traffic stop. His music is about real feelings and situations that we all go through. Drawol is gifted with a powerful voice and rambunctious spirit which he is honing into an art form that entertains and inspires all ages. Drawol experienced the rigors of touring in 2016 with “This the Indiana Tour” and performed at the 2018 South by Southwest Music Festival. Drawol has worked with many artists in the Midwest hip-hop community like T-Rell Music (TRM), Stevie Stone and Ahdasee records and Jehry Robinson with Strange Music. Drawol is big on working with and promoting on social media lesser-known underground acts like Young Block, Kevin Tyler, Berran Lee,and Rell DaVett. His earliest musical influences in rap are Eminem, Tupac, and NWA.
