Monye Chukwuyem Martins popularly known as “GunzPapi” was born in Lagos, Nigeria on March 2nd, 1993. He had all of his education in Lagos State, Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Estate Management from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. At an early age, little “GunzPapi” was introduced to classic pieces from Micheal Bolton, SWV, Don Moen, Fela Anikulapokuti , Ebenezer Obey and King Sunny Ade from his parents hence we can sense the soulful Melodies in his music. On the other hand, he was also introduced to hip hop music from G-Unit, Nas, Lil Wayne, R. Kelly, Rick Ross, Akon and LL Cool J by his Uncle, who always gave him DVD’s of these hip hop artists whenever he visited. Not far fetched to tell where GunzPapi draws his inspiration from, as he attempts to blend both Jazz and Afro with Hip/Hop into evergreen musical pieces. He names Tupac, Fela and Nas as his greatest artists and thus can not be truer, as we can tell from his conscious story telling, infused with rhythmic Flows and often braggadocio style.
