The Canadian-born, Brownsville-bred artist’s 2022 debut project I’m Him is a carefully crafted collection of songs that showcase his versatility and range. It’s also the first release in a planned trilogy meant to not only introduce him to the world as “one to watch,” but to lay claim to his future as a legacy artist. The kind of artist who has the uncanny ability to create relatable music that evokes emotions from a variety of listeners, while always remaining authentic to its creator. Throughout high school, Jay seemed on course for a career in basketball. He had the skill, access to great coaches and the support of his family: his original interest in basketball was the bond it created between him and his father, with whom he wasn’t close otherwise. But he quickly realized that he didn’t have the dedication required to achieve greatness. What he WAS passionate about - enough to devote his time, energy and money to - was music.
