SO.Crates is comprised of Melbourne born and raised producer SKOMES and MC Cazeaux O.S.L.O, a California born Australian resident. Their sound is a culmination of their shared love for jazz, soul and hip hop in the vein of groups such as De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and the late 90s/early 2000s Rawkus era.
After self-releasing the local classics Static Methods and Static Methods Replays on vinyl back in 2017, followed by the sun-drenched collaborative LP Sunset Cities with rapper Nelson Dialect and beatmaker Alnitak Kid in 2018, the pair dropped soul-infused classic Mama Danced on Soul Train to wide acclaim. Now, after many collaborative ventures and single joints, the duo arrive with Malcolm After Mecca, a debut, full-length, double-LP jam packed full of goodness.
With a legacy built on releasing a steady flow of cold-crush records and delivering uplifting live performances to the party people, SO.Crates prove that hip-hop’s golden era is not a lost date in time, but a foundational state of mind.
