Coast Phonik is an MC, musician and producer from Gerringong on the South Coast of NSW. With a fresh new outlook, and a name change from his former artist name of HMO to Coast Phonik, the South Coast artist is dropping some new material after over a year. Coast Phonik grew up on the South Coast of NSW and after many years living in Sydney and Melbourne, is now residing in Kiama, NSW. Coast Phonik is a career musician who has been playing in bands from an early age and performs regularly with various groups as an instrumentalist and MC. He also produces for local artists such as Azza-D and has composed and produced music for various media organisations. Coast Phonik’s music channels a range of genres from early Funk and Soul to Reggae and Blues. Coast Phonik is inspired by funk bands such as The Meters and James Brown, along with hip hop artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, Ice Cube, J Cole and Aussie hip hop artists like the Hilltop Hoods. Coast Phonik’s music aims to deliver funkin beats with a distinct social and political message. In 2019, his debut EP ‘Heightened Modus Operandi’, was popular on streaming platforms, local radio and saw him perform an East Coast Headline Tour playing iconic Hip Hop venues such as Hustle and Flow and Laundry Bar. Coast Phonik has since gone on to share the stage with artists such as Urthboy, Nooky, B-Wise, Kobie Dee, I know Leopard, The Rions, The Terry’s and many more prominent Australian artists.
