Joey Golden is a rap artist from Sunnyside Queens, NY. From the growing pains of inner city, and growing his rapping chops in the underground hip hop scene in a rap collective with his friends from high school, known as Operation Industry Shut Down (O.I.S.D.), which was active from 2008-2011. The members disbanded in 2012 to pursue different interests— After some re-grounding work through podcasting and collaboration, He draws his songwriting influence from 50cent, Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Jay Z & Lupe Fiasco. His work often touches on subjects such as love and friendship, true value, money, astrology, pain, strong mentality building/affirmations, and marijuana— slice of life snapshots. He defines his audience as 2000s hip hop mixtape babies and Smack dvd kids. He began his “Retrograde” series with producer Teedoteinsof in 2019, with his most recent release in 2022, Retrograde2. Working with producers Azmari Melton, Bon Jordy & Teedoteinsof, his upcoming release DIRECT will be out in August of 2023. Currently, he part of a rap duo with Jonathan UniteUs, known as tha Joint. They are working on their 2nd album GAME4, produced by Bon Jordy, which is set to be released later this year.
