Trey Makishima, also known as Backwards Trey, definitely needs a better rapper name. He’s also not really a rapper. 
 Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Trey made his first mixtape, The Legacy Mixtape, during his senior year— just to prove that he could. He has mixed backgrounds in slam poetry, musical theatre, and freestyle rap battles. Trey’s quirky style and comedic lyrics draw influence from the likes of Lin-Manuel Miranda as much as they draw from bright, fun hip-hop artists like Aminé and Chance the Rapper. 
 Currently, Backwards Trey attends film school at Chapman University, where he primarily works on small projects. He’s always grinding and experimenting with his writing and producing skills. He promises one thing— big things are coming.
