Music has been the ultimate form of expression for Reya since childhood and thus considers herself to be an artist who emote through music. She has been training in Hindustani Classical music for the last 17 years under the tutelage of her guru, Acharya Jayanta Bose. She has a deep inclination towards western music mainly in Jazz, Funk, R&B, Soul and Operatic and effortlessly blends into all the genres and disciplines. She has performed in a lot of noted experimental concerts such as Vocal Symphony, Bengali Qawali, Music-o-Mime, Bengali Operatic and East- West. Reya is also a playback singer for which she has also been nominated at the Mirchi Music Awards Bangla twice for the film “Aami Aar Amaar Girlfriends” & “ Bhagsesh”. Her ensemble, Reya’s Ensemble has performed at Music Mojo Season 4 and has produced some quality experimental music with over millions views on YouTube. She is also the front woman of The A.R Rahman Funk Collective that produces famous A.R Rahman songs in their own interesting way which mainly has Funk & Jazz influences, with rich harmonies and different interesting grooves. Apart from that Reya independently collaborates with different skilled musicians across the country to add new flavours to music and her aim is to reach out to a greater audience and express through music.
