Michael Best, aka Nitty Green is the founding member of the R&B/Pop group, RIFF. The group was formed while its members were attending Paterson, NJ’s Eastside High School. They are best known for their performance in the iconic bathroom scene in the 1989 movie “Lean On Me”, starring Morgan Freeman. The group had several hits, including 3 Billboard Hot 100 singles and the title track for the movie “White Men Can’t Jump”. RIFF toured with artists such as Vanilla. Ice and LL Cool J and has appeared on shows such as The Arsenio Hall Show, The Tonight Show, Soul Train and more. While the group is still very much together, Nitty began recording solo music in 2018. He has released a few singles since then, but in 2021 made the decision to strike out on his own and begin a solo career. On April 5, 2022, he launched his newest pop single, “Running Out of Time”.
