John the Bap formerly known as John the Baptist is a Christian hip-hop artist and music producer from New Haven, CT. Growing up in the golden era of hip-hop, his musical influences stem from producers and artists such as: DJ Premier, Marco Polo, Just Blaze, The Alchemist, RZA, Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, Mobb Deep, Gang Starr and many others. He started producing music in 1999. In 2006 he met his mentor Prime Bangas, who took his music production to another level. Starting in 2007, he began working as a producer with Christian hip-hop artists nationally and internationally. In 2011, on his 36th birthday, John decided to pick up the pen and wrote his first song. This was a vertical experience, as The Holy Spirit held his hand through the writing process, which confirmed his prayers of whether or whether not he should become an artist. He has released four projects as an artist: The Genesis EP, Purpose, Endure, and the True Love Chronicles EP.He has recently released three singles. “Calling Me” featuring his wife Ms. Nita talks about John leaving the street life behind to follow Jesus Christ. “Hip-Hop” tells the story of John’s love with a girl named hip-hop and their journey together and his latest release “Only a Test” features production from his mentor Prime Bangas.
