With a unique blend of alt pop, R&B rootwork, poignant lyrics, and deep grooves, Cole DeGenova has been moving audiences since the early 2010s. The singer/songwriter and virtuoso keyboardist began his career as a teenage jazz pianist around his native Chicago, but after a short stint at Berklee College of Music, hit the road bringing his dynamic live show and soulful original music to venues around the country and worldwide. He has collaborated with the likes of alt-R&B crooner Gallant, New Orleans fusion outfit Naughty Professor, Daniel Villarreal, Neal Francis, The Heard, and jazz rock trio Hanging Hearts.
His 2020 album Really Human was released by the Philly based label Ropeadope Records and features production by Neo-soul legend Georgia Anne Muldrow, Rico Sisney of Sidewalk Chalk, and the anthemic nu-funk banger “We Broke.” This was followed by the EP Dopamine in 2021.
As an in-demand session player and touring musician, DeGenova has also worked with the likes of Chance the Rapper, Lupe Fiasco, Isaiah Sharkey, Brett Dennen, Makaya McCraven, Meshell Ndegeocello, Paula Cole, Dave King (The Bad Plus), Dave Shaw (The Revivalists), Chali 2na, legendary engineer Eddie Kramer, photographer Bruce Webber, Versace, and was featured on the Latin Grammy winning “Fantastico” by Lucky Diaz.
