Born into a world where music and spirituality seamlessly intertwined, “Chris Malachi,” a lifelong devotee of soulful sounds, has found a way to strike that balance, merging into Reggae while continuing to be the bearer of messages. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in both music and faith, he honed his soulful and powerful voice. Starting in the church, he evolved from a young pianist to a church choir vocalist, inspired by his father’s choir direction and his uncle’s spiritual guidance. The family’s ties to the Jamaican music scene, hosting renowned artists and instrumentalists, laid the foundation for Chris’s musical journey. His interest in poetry and songwriting blossomed during his schooling, and he further expanded his skills at the University of the West Indies. Collaborating with Grammy-nominated producer J.L.L., Chris released his debut EP “The Messenger” in 2019, followed by impactful projects like “BAWL,” “FYAHBAWL,” (2020) and “We Move” in 2022. In 2023, he embarked on the “Work and Play” project with Grammy-nominated producer BoomDraw, emphasizing the value of diligence and education in creativity. Chris’s musical journey remains rooted in honesty, aiming to provoke profound change through authenticity and the unfiltered human experience. He looks forward to creating more Reggae music in the future, with an album on the horizon that will define his generation’s take on this timeless genre.
