Vitor Araújo, a prodigious talent from Recife, Brazil, fuses classical virtuosity with the avant-garde to craft a sonic tapestry that is both deeply rooted in his cultural heritage and expansively forward-thinking. The pianist, composer, producer and orchestrator was born in 1989, started his music studies at the age of nine before choosing the piano, where he found his true expressive voice.
His early works as a composer, such as "A/B" (2012) and "Levaguiã Terê" (2016), showcase a profound understanding of classical forms blended seamlessly with contemporary experimentation. Araujo's compositions blend intricate harmonies, rhythmic complexity, and emotive melodies, reflecting both his connection with Brazilian folklore and contemporary influences. “Levaguiã Terê” was considered the best Brazilian record of 2016 by VICE/Noisey and internationally released in 2019 by the Vienna-based label Nutriot - with a 2LP vinyl edition and a special performance in New York City, at the National Sawdust.
His collaborations, most notably with @Arnaldo Antunes on the critically acclaimed album "Lágrimas no Mar" (2021), highlight his ability to merge poetic lyricism with intricate piano arrangements. This album, and its subsequent tour, brought Araújo's visionary pianistic approach to a much wider audience, reinforcing the hybridity between many different musical languages, including the union of the experimentalism of his instrumental vision with the catchy pop music written by Antunes.
