London-based writer / producer Dave Jay spent the past three decades working for record labels such as WEA / Maverick, Mangled, Atlantic / Big Beat, Suburban Base, London Records, Freskanova, and Above Machine while having tracks remixed by the likes of Dan The Automator, Blue States and Ray Mang and music featured in various film and television. Having split with his former band, Soul Hooligan (whose album, 'Music Like Dirt', was released by Madonna's Maverick label in 2002), Jay created his own production project, then called 'Twisted Tongue All-Stars', and swiftly signed to Acid Jazz Records. Shortening the brand-name to 'Twisted Tongue' and teaming up with co-producer/guitarist Mark Dalton, he released two albums with the label, until Dalton decided to exit the group in 2010, midway through the second LP. Following a series of club mixes and edits as 'Mondo Disco' and a Twisted Tongue remix project for Oslo-based Aural Graffiti Records, in 2015 Jay decided to move on from music. However, in 2021, he marked the 15th anniversary of the group by reviving the original 'Twisted Tongue All-Stars' moniker, returning to the project's original jazz/funk fusion roots in collaboration with UK jazz horn player Graeme Flowers. This ultimately led on to Twisted Tongue's fourth and final album, to be self-released in 2024.
