Despite growing up in close proximity to one another on Gary, Indiana's east side, Asani Hard (born Nicholas Sheffield) and Dre Baker (born D'andre') started their musical paths at seven and eight years of age with zero knowledge of one another. Their Midwest roots awarded them to be influenced by all regional sounds of hip-hop, ranging from artists like 50 Cent, Lil' Wayne, Eminem, Kanye West, T.I., & Twista. In early 2015, following an online rap competition hosted by Dre Baker that championed Asani, the pair initially featured each other on a number of records. Their unbelievable chemistry led to them creating The Little PPL duo and releasing their dynamic, lyrically dense first EP "The Little People EP" in the fall of 2015. Continuing the heavy release of rap subgenre-bending singles along with nuanced visual support filled with enactments and references to urban lifestyle and pop-culture, Asani and Dre scored regional, small tours and single venue slots performing live in Chicago down to Atlanta frequently. In May 2018, The Little PPL were selected by reps of Dreamville to open up for Cozz's Effected Tour stop in Chicago. Their first full-length effort "There's Something Wrong With this Picture" was released in Aug. 2018, starting out as a NYE 5-song EP in late Dec. 2017. The non-cohesive yet theatrical LP showcases their ambition with varying songwriting and production focuses, from rock-inspired hooks to interpolations of classic R&B and East Coast hip-hop songs.
