Ryan "Rye" Murphey is a guitarist, songwriter, vocalist, producer, mandolinist and upright bassist. Ryan won the Western Heritage "Wrangler" award in 2023 for the song "Blues for 66". He us a Grammy nominee for producing the 2010 album "Buckaroo Bluegrass" for his dad, Western music artist and legend Michael Martin Murphey. Ryan was the Texas Music Awards producer of the year in 2010 and a nominee in the best male vocalist category in 2011. He has been a featured performer on The Grand Ole Opry and The Nashville Network and his 1988 duet single with MMM, "Talking to the Wrong Man", was certified double platinum by BMI. He was featured in several film soundtrack recordings with his band "The Sawdust Brothers" throughout the 2010s and worked extensively with experimental power pop band "Lemoncholy" in the early 00s, Recently, Ryan released a duet album with his former student and singer/songwriter/philosophy master, Michaal Barham. Currently, he teaches guitar, songwriting and music production in Nashville, TN. at the Nashville School of the Arts.
