Josh McCann, also known as Laser Rot, is an American composer and producer who grew up around Columbus, Ohio, and currently lives in San Diego, California. Laser Rot’s feelgood funky sound carries elements of funk, disco, electro house, hip hop, and even orchestral works. Laser Rot released his first EP Freak the Funk in 2015 with noticeable influences of funk and electro house. Freak the Funk went on to top out at #27 in the Beatport Top 100. Keep You Movin', his sophomore release, and first album definitely had that funky flavor, but had a much more smooth approach. His music has been compared to acts like Daft Punk, Chromeo, GRiZ, Basement Jaxx, and Modjo to name a few, but his tunes are always happy and uplifting. Laser Rot’s music has been in the Beatport Top 100 charts many times over. More recently Laser Rot was nominated for Best RnB, Funk or Soul album by the 2022 San Diego Music Awards for his latest album FunkTonic.He also has music synced to well known TV Shows like RuPaul's Dragrace, Jersey Shore, and Comedy Centrals Top 100 Roast, to name a few.
