Al DeLoner is one of the great songwriters in Norwegian music. He is the man behind the magnificent and often heartbreakingly beautiful songs of Midnight Choir. Since 2005, he has also had a remarkable solo career, with some of the most personal albums one can imagine. Al DeLoner was one of the first Norwegian artists who saw the possibilities of digital music distribution, releasing six instrumental albums through Phonophile in the early 2000s. This material included music for movies and theater, as well as more classically-inspired piano pieces. In recent years, DeLoner has continued to release albums and songs digitally. A full five albums make up the collection My Unreleased Collection #'s 1-5 (2014). The best of these previously unavailable songs are also collected on Matt's Choice from 2015. In 2016, Midnight Choir finally came back together on stage, with great success and more sold out tours, including fresh performances in Germany. 2018 has become an unusually rich and creative year for the singer and songwriter. In October and November he released three brand new albums, which together constitute a very strong trilogy of doubt and faith, light and shadow. The albums contain 24 new songs, including cover versions of metal pioneers Saxon and Judas Priest. The albums appeared in this order: Snowdrift, Chair Without A Table and Ibrahim And The Lonely Driver. All these releases are brilliantly stripped down productions, presented in an unusually naked and intimate way.
