Three-time Juno nominee RICK SCOTT is an award-winning singer, songwriter and actor, and Canada’s leading proponent of the Appalachian mountain dulcimer. Over 45 years he has released 19 albums and performed his lively, original blend of folk and blues in eleven countries. In 2018 he was honoured with the City of Nanaimo Cultural Excellence Award and in 2019 he was inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame. Since pioneering BC rogue folk in the '70s with Shari Ulrich and Joh Mock in iconic trio Pied Pumkin, Rick’s gift for combining music, humour and poignant human commentary has earned him a devoted following from four generations. He’s Goodwill Ambassador for the Down Syndrome Resource Foundation and curator of the Protection Island Museum. Rogue Folk says, “His gift for enriching and healing the human spirit will not soon be forgotten.” Rick’s 9 children’s recordings have been honoured with three Juno nominations and NAPPA Gold, Parents’ Choice, Family Choice, Children’s Music Web, Western Canadian and Canadian Folk Music Awards. Rick currently tours in the duo ROOTS & GROOVES with brilliant young keyboardist Nico Rhodes, combining dulcimer and piano in a smorgasbord of folk, rhythm and blues. . Since releasing their eponymous ROOTS & GROOVES CD in 2017 Rick and Nico have played over 80 shows to standing ovations BC. They are currently working on a new recording and a stage adaptation of Rick’s musical audio novel, ‘The Great Gazzoon’.
