RANES wants to showcase that R&B can be upbeat, that it doesn’t have to be mellow and chill: “2000s R&B used to be very upbeat and I want to bring some of that back. The R&B I make can be for all kinds of vibes. The mixture of the beat and the BPM, having a bit of bass with the vocals on top - I’m not boxing myself into the standard R&B sound.”
