Thyme, also known as Melissa Thyme Monroe, is a multi-faceted electronic musician hailing from Miami that specializes in rhythmically complex and melodically rich music such as drum and bass, US club, house, cloud rap, and especially footwork. Born to two Cuban immigrants, Thyme was predisposed to the wonderful rhythmic eccentricities of the Latin world and quickly learned of the value of syncopation. As a child with a computer at her fingertips, she quickly found the internet's ever-growing gathering of electronic music and video games. Her knowledge and curiosity would expand as she grew up, exposed to the musical wealth of sites like Newgrounds and YouTube, and would eventually persuade her into purchasing FL Studio and starting her experimentation with music. Later into her life, as life had begun to shift and priorities began to change, she soon began to switch up her style rapidly. By this time, she'd been able to fully absorb her influences of chiptune, trap, vaporwave, and various other internet-borne genres and cultural detritus to create her new sounds. This is when she adopted the Thyme name, named after one of her fursonas that she initially drew as a stoner. (She ascribes to straight-edge philosophies.) At present, Thyme is attempting to expose herself to new avenues and evolve her sound and aesthetic to reach new heights while keeping in touch with all of her eclectic influences, not just with the Thyme name, but with other aliases and projects.
