Adrian Garrison Williams, better known as Adriatic, is a multi-genre producer, DJ, and songwriter originating musically from south Minneapolis, where he lived through college until moving to the New York City area. He has been credited as a founder of the sub-genre Neo Trip-Hop, which blends elements of Neo Soul, Trip-Hop, Rap, and downtempo electronic. He initially began in 2005 under the names Drehoops and DJ Pizza Slice, before changing to Adriatic in 2011. By 2014, Williams had established the Adriatic sound through his work in the bands Pseudoubt and Origami Bones, in addition to executively producing the debut album by C∆IRNS. He became the youngest performer in the history of Soundset Music Festival. In the spring of 2019, upon establishing Automatic Records, his collaborative LP called In Motion with Los Angeles underground legend Myka 9 was released. The duo followed up the album with an EP of remixes, and a new song called "Constellations." In 2021, Adriatic produced the single "Still... U Don't Know" by Bukue One. He also joined forces with Duisburg, Germany emcee and educator Tecah One for the Falkenfeder EP, which was released in 2021. He also is recognized for production work for Montreal/NYC vocalist Mimo, including songs "Sunflower Head" and "Void of Course." Adriatic has performed on lineups with Shabazz Palaces, POLIÇA, Mickey Avalon, Montana of 300, Toki Wright, and more. He is also an actor, briefly appearing in several HBO and Amazon Prime shows.
