Pekula Records presents HEXAGON, a recording taken from the third edition of a commissioned one-night-only performance at the legendary Parkteatret venue in Oslo. Combining the power of mystery with the power of music, these multimedia events happen without providing the audience with any of the traditional mappings of expectation: no introductions, no program line-up, not even a hint of what is about to occur. This album captures a night when the combination of over 200 lights, a dance troop, and the songs contained herein were delivered with precision, mesmerising the audience, and rewarding them richly for their open reception of a truly unique experience. The creative hands and minds behind the music were Erlend Mokkelbost (who is also the curator) and Nils Martin Larsen (also known as NML), who created it over the course of a couple of highly productive weeks in 2019. The performance features NML and singer Neon Ion, and it pulses and undulates, sears and soars, ducks, dives and dances across its 40 odd minutes with keen clean energy, dirty beats, basses deep, basses fuzzed, basses hollow, rattle-bone percussion, plastic pluck synth, wailing siren, high tension supersaws and choral bliss both chopped and unchopped. Atmospheric passages blend, merge, evolve and erupt into throbbing beat-driven monsters of sonic tornadoes, perfect unisons slip through discord to perfect harmony and back.
