Aadae’s sound is that of the diaspora and congregation. Making music that crosses boundaries and genres, she is impossible to categorise. Born in Nigeria but raised in Peckham - she embodies the spirit of both. As a vanguard of the Nigerian Alte scene in the diaspora Aadae’s voice is confident and effortless - her lyrics delivering a powerful and poignant message with simple lines Her debut EP Agape gained support from publications as diverse as The Independent, The Fader, The Line Of Best Fit, Complex – the press were unanimous in their approval of a fresh new talent. Additionally, Aadae’s music has garnered support from the likes of Lauren Laverne and John Hillcock at 6 music. Further love came from The Selector, Amazing Radio, Jamz Supernova, Reprezent and others. Aadae’s journey this year has been as interesting as her backstory. Currently working on her sophomore project, Aadae is putting the finishing touches to her double sided follow up EP. Gearing towards fresh releases from this body of work, Aadae describes one side of the project as celebration of what it means to be black and British whilst its other half draws from the world of Pop and dance with some world music sensibilities.
