Aron Dahl is a composer, filmmaker, sound synthesist and singer. He has been deeply involved with a diverse array of sound practices: acoustic improvised music, techno, noise, songwriting, minimalism and ritualistic music, as well as working as a composer with classical ensembles. Following up on the critically acclaimed and highly personal album Loosening Orions Belt, Aron Dahl returns with another stunning collection of songs in 2024. Moth / Flame elaborates on the deeply personal style of Aron Dahl's previous album, Loosening Orions Belt (2018), which garned international attention with its ambitious song cycle that wrapped themes of transcendental love and sex in analog synths, heartfelt melodies and chamber music. The music on Loosening Orions Belt was unlike anything else of its time, yet the album served as a poignant alternative pop record from an artist who has previously worked with contemporary chamber music, free improvisational music, minimalist drone music and ritualistic techno. The album Moth / Flame, out November 2024, sees Aron Dahl dive even deeper into themes of sexuality, suffering and healing, while defying conventional genre categories.
