Sun Rain is the solo project of Toronto based producer Chad Skinner, a journey which was set in motion back in 2019 with the release of “Sheets”. Though the album marked Sun Rain’s debut, Skinner himself has been involved with the electronic scene for much longer. He played a role in the electronic duo “Snowday” and is currently lending his talents to 5-piece “BisonBison”. It was through “Sheets” that we were first introduced to Sun Rain’s intensely personal, contemplative style. The sound brought to life in the debut exists in a deeply organic environment, making use of Sun Rain’s skills as a multi-instrumentalist to draw on neo-classical piano, percussive beats and wandering synthesizer. It’s a gentle approach that feels at home in the spheres of Ambient and Drone, but which always maintains an intimate connection with the listener by selecting sounds which retain a sense of physicality. Chad is also co-owner and co-founder of Half Moon Audio in Toronto, where he lends his skillset for mixing and mastering to like minded musicians.
