" now available direct from Rhythm Rock-It Records www.rhythmrock-it.com The Big Six – an all-star British big beat swing/rock'n'roll band originally formed in 1994, conceived by Ricky Lee Brawn as a supergroup band comprising musicians from some spectacular bands including The Big Town Playboys, The Stargazers, King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys, The Chevalier Brothers, The Ray Gelato Giants, Sugar Ray's Flying Fortress and Big Joe Louis & The Blues Kings. Dressed in extravagantly cut, loud plaid suits, The Big Six quickly became England's premier big beat combo, with their unique blend of hybrid dance sounds! The band combined the hottest swing, the power of James Brown's horns, the drive of Bill Haley's rhythm section, and the ska groove of the Skatalites, along with R&B, rockabilly, jump-jive and doo-wop. During the next 5 or 6 years the band recorded 3 albums “Ready To Rock”, “We The Boys Will Rock Ya!”, and “Get Off It And Rock It”, spent many months touring in the USA and Europe, and had a song featured in the 1998 Jim Carrey movie “The Truman Show” – the band’s explosive version of the Marc Bolan classic “Twentieth Century Boy”. In 2012 the band reunited for the first time in over 10 years for a comeback show at the world famous Viva Las Vegas festival, since when they have performed regularly at selected major European festivals. Farewell show was back in Vegas again, in April 2019.
