However, therein lies the problem. The career never truly ended, only the individual had. After years of battling addiction, problems with the law, institutions and failed relationships the decision was made that sobriety trumped any future musical aspirations. The mic was, in the moment, seemingly hung up for good. The writing never stopped, the stories still begged to be told, and the artist within was never truly dead.
