Gary Llama got his start playing punk rock in RIchmond, VA, in the pre-teen punk band Golden Llamas. The band, still in their teens, became 500$Fine, a band that became a staple of the mid-90s RVA punk scene. After the passing of 500's bassist Patrick Daly, Gary began making his own solo music, first under the moniker of Silence Is Suicide, then later, F-box, playing a type of acoustic punk rock, before the idea of folk punk had become a thing, releasing EP after EP, untill finally releasing under his own name. Gary's songs are a type of American folk music, though with the spirit and ethic of punk rock.
