Jay Sherman-Godfrey has enjoyed a long and varied musical career in and around New York City, working as a studio and stage guitarist-for-hire, recording engineer, producer, songwriter and solo performer. He produced Laura Cantrell’s acclaimed first two CDs, Not The Trembling Kind and When the Roses Bloom Again, and has recorded and performed with They Might Be Giants, Tandy, Amy Rigby, Michael Shelley, Eric “Roscoe” Ambel, and Mojo Nixon, among many others. In the early 1980s, he co-founded the seminal NYC country-rock band World Famous Blue Jays with singer and songwriting partner Jeremy Tepper, also joining him in founding and operating Diesel Only Records. In 2006, he released his debut as a solo artist, the EP Twoscore. Currently, he leads the NYC-based power pub rock trio Wire Troop, and he occasionally produces, records, and mixes on his Able Mobile Recording Lab, a vagabond digital/analog hybrid studio he'll set up anywhere that sounds good and the neighbors don't mind.
