”The Family are three mates from the suburbs, writing music with hearts on their sleeve"... 
 First crossing paths in 06, they were in other bands and had mutual friends. Those years became a chance to soak up each other's musicality and cement a connection. 
 Many moons later, a wedding gig fell in their lap. Reuben and James rose to the challenge Mel had set and the trio from Brisbane AU became The Family. But they soon found they had more to say. Songwriters individually, they introduced songs to each other, tinkering away until the right ones stuck. What evolved is an eclectic mix that represents each artist, gently held and lifted by the others. 
 Their songs about heartbreak, life observations and small joys, swing between Folk, Indie, Pop, Rock, Blues, Alt-Country and Reggae. Long story short, the trio are a varied, rootsy, soulful sound. And why the hell not? Life’s too short not to smash out cracking music between day jobs and ridiculous internet memes. 
 Focused on writing, they continue to record their unique bunch of songs that are thrown around the rehearsal room. The result is a collection of themes including love, laughter and loss. Add some harder hitting rock, pop, indie vibes with the softer ballads and you get music that keeps you on your toes. 
 Their first album "Can't Take My Love” released January 2020, was followed in April 2021 by a 5 track EP "Gimme Some". All songs recorded, mixed and mastered by Mr Reuben Staines.
