Nick Kispy has been digging deeper into Drum and Bass production over the last few years developing a sound heavily influenced by live instruments, funk and jazz combined with the energy of processed drum loops and sub basses, mixing the rough and the smooth together. Originally a guitar player with influences in blues and funk Nick quickly immersed himself in the indie dance cross over scene of the early 90's with bands such as Primal Scream and The Stone Roses. Whilst living in Manchester in the mid 90's for a few years Nick was converted to the sound of Drum and Bass listening to The Intalex DnB weekly radio show on Kiss FM. Influences including LTJ Bukem/Good Looking Records, Soul:r and V-Recordings resulted in a love for melodic but soul and funk driven drum and bass and this continues today with inspiration continuing to be found from the likes of Makoto, DJ Marky, Carlito & Addiction, Random Movement as well as newer labels and artists. A key part of his sound includes the phrasing of his guitar and bass guitar hooks that are blues/jazz/funk based. This live feel is carried through to other instrumental parts such as keys, string and horn parts that are played in via the keyboard.
