Producing electronic music as okayshades since 2016, Robin Brink (well known as the drummer of South African band Beatenberg) has been patiently refining his signature sound: a mix of house, techno and downtempo - with occasional excursions into drum & bass and broken beat. His music has so far been released on such tastemaker labels as Platoon, Stay True Sounds, Ambious Records and Surreal Sounds Music. After performing with his band on the Jimmy Fallon Show a backstage conversation led him to producing a breakthrough remix for Mumford & Sons (featuring the legendary Baaba Maal). In 2020 after a fruitful period of work coproducing EPs for artists such as Manu Grace and Sparklet he decided to enter the 20 Years of Poker Flat Recordings remix contest. His remix submission for Tim Engelhardt's ‘First Contact’ came in first place. His relationship as touring drummer for Bongeziwe Mabandla also led to the production of ‘Jikeleza (okayshades Remix)’ which was well supported across streaming platforms. 2021 saw the release of a new collaborative project with Berlin based singer/actress Solvay (aka Rosa Landers) starting with the single like a samba (feat. solvay) a short musical film for the EP 'Ghosted, or The Cactus Effect. 2022 sees remixes for iconic UK MC General Levy and for electronic soundscape duo Solomon Grey. Forthcoming remixes for Pink Mario and andreas owens are on the horizon for 2022.
