Prince Fatty delivers characterful takes on old-school reggae, soul and Latin grooves. He is based in London and loves to work with people all over the world. Fatty is the creation of music producer and engineer Michael Pelanconi - the artist name a nod to that giant of Jamaican sound King Tubby.
You can find him playing in clubs and festivals and guesting with sound systems. You can find him sharing knowledge about music and equipment. You can hear his music in the pantheon of international popular culture - on soundtracks to shows like Breaking Bad and Grey's Anatomy.
Prince Fatty has worked with varied global talents, such as Horseman, Stick Figure, Shniece McMenamin, Mungo's Hi Fi, Earl 16, Winston Francis, Jamaican superstars Big Youth and Marcia Griffiths, Afrobeat musicians like Dele Sosimi, Latin maverick Manu Chao and hip-hop godfathers The Last Poets. As producer and songwriter, Prince Fatty "virtually reinvented lovers rock" on the first two Hollie Cook albums.
His love for music from different cultures leads to running collaborations with musicians from New York to Sao Paolo to Lagos to Bangkok. In 2023, he created a new artist-focused record label - Lovedub Limited - after years of releases on a variety of specialist labels including Mr Bongo, Delicious Vinyl, Tru Thoughts, VP Records and Evergreen.
