Stockholm-born singer and songwriter Victoria Lagerstrom grew up in a musical home with a father that played the piano and listened to American R&B and jazz. Lagerstrom states “ My dad’s record collection played a huge part in how I focused as an artist. I spent all my free time in our family basement singing along with singers like Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder, and Billie Holiday.” Lagerstrom’s childhood was quiet but not without significant heartbreak. She experienced a sad turn of events as a fifteen year old when her mother and grandmother passed away a few weeks apart. Music became a refuge and an outlet for the inner turmoil that followed. “ The losses turned me into a very serious and introverted teenager. I didn’t really allow myself to express feelings other than when I was singing,” she explains.
