Hailing from Dover, Delaware by way of Queens, NYC, Jay In 88 started pursuing music in the mid 2000's as a hobby due to being influenced by various acts like Nas, B.I.G, Kris Kross & Big L to name a few. Hip-Hop was not often played in his household as a child at first however, so he would only get to listen to it around friends & school. Once he relocated to Delaware in the early 2000's with his mom and brother for a better life and more controlled environment, his love of hip-hop grew due to having access to the internet, satellite radio & cable television. It was then where he would buy most of the albums he missed out on, research for hours on Hip-Hop before his time and even go back to Queens on occasions to buy clothes and mixtapes. He wrote his first rap in the summer of 2004, and since then slowly invested into his craft by making various full length mixtapes in high school to get his name out locally, and also battle rapped from time to time. In the fall 2007, Jay in 88 formed Delaware Hip-Hop Sensation Cypher Clique, which include Mic Anthony & also Jay In 88's brother MC/producer, James Major. The group released countless projects from 2009 to present day, charting multiple times on ITunes, on various high profile publications & also performed with many of the legends in Hip-Hop from the start of the culture to today's top acts.
