Lester Prox is an alternative hip-hop artist from Sheffield, UK. His sound is built around an eclectic mix of inspiration from old school hip hop all the way to punk. It is impossible to pigeonhole Lester as an artist as he has an unpredictable tendency when it comes to what he will drop next. From Lester's early work it is clear that he was deeply involved with hip-hop, and it is evidently his default setting when sitting down to create. This lyrical hip-hop style of writing is even translated over into some of Lester's more experimental music such as his 2022 album 'Life Is Just a Precious Minute'. Lester says that the album itself was created out of a boredom of the hip-hop he was making. The track 'Hillsborough' from the album became Lester's first track to be played on radio when it was featured on BBC Sheffield introducing a few weeks after release. Lester's next endeavour took a much more punky twist, working with just a drum machine and a bass guitar, he released the E.P 'Happy Tax'. 'Happy Tax' was a full-frontal attack on the modern world where Lester holds a mirror up to the modern management system at low paid jobs in 'Cleanup' and the lack of authenticity within society in 'Public Illusion'. Lester also has an ever-growing catalogue with producer special pockets, which sees Lester adventure into a more experimental side of hip-hop allowing him to deliver a less traditional style.
