SJ the Artisan is a rapper, record producer, DJ, songwriter, audio engineer, and instrumentalist from Youngstown, Ohio. He is known for his passion, drive, and work ethic, and has worked with artists, producers, and instrumentalists from all over the world. SJ began his career in 2010 with the release of his Straight From Da Yo mixtape series. He gained wider recognition with the release of his The Harbinger Mixtape in 2012, which led to shows at Cleveland's Phantasy Nightclub, The Outpost in Kent, and at Stambaugh Stadium with the YSU Marching Pride. In 2012, SJ partnered with older brother, DJ Keyz, to form 1093 Entertainment, LLC. Being the label's flagship artist, SJ has released several projects under its banner, including The Revolution (2015), Age of Phenom (2017), No Limits EP (2017), Legend of The Rona (2020), and Halftime (2022). He has also released a number of singles, including Summer Nights (2017), 1000 Miles n’ Runnin’ (2019), Trophies (2019), Inside You (2019), Colors (2020), Nothin’ Like You (2020), Renaissance Man (2021), and 12 official singles in 2022. SJ has performed at major events and universities around Ohio and western Pennsylvania, as well as toured Southeast Asia. He is currently playing a major role in the growth and development of Shenzhen's hip hop music scene. He is also involved in other ventures, including No Disintegrations, a Shenzhen based super band, and Myriad Misadventures with Seth Petsching, a travel and martial arts blog.
