Known for his poetic lyricism and percussive fingerstyle guitar technique, singer-songwriter Ciano Maimba's music reflects on the human condition, and journals the plight of our collective existence. Ciano’s sound draws from seemingly unrelated genres (from Soul to Alt rock) , melding into a singular coherent auditory identity. Perhaps, a testament to his beliefs in the oneness of all things; a recurrent theme in his work. Having properly began his music career in 2014, Ciano steadily gained recognition from playing open mic and poetry shows. Which suited his lyric heavy, contemplative songwriting choices. As his sound and identity began to crystallize, he performed his first 2-hour solo concert in 2016 at the Goethe Institute Nairobi; a sold out show, packed to the door. He has since performed a number of shows in Nairobi and along the Kenyan Coast. From having played at Blankets and Wine in Nairobi, to sharing the stage with the phenomenal Michel Ongaro and the Mambo Tribe, a fusion band of jazz and traditional Giriama musicians, in Malindi.
