Laurente is the poster artist for ‘doing it yourself, by any means’. As a self-produced rapper, mentor and businessman, Laurente continues to make moves across the UK, with the recent town-turned-city of Doncaster serving as his home base. Born in Luton to dual heritage parents, the rapper comes from humble beginnings, and is known for his distinct voice, relatable lyrics and exciting stage presence. In a notoriously shady and unforgiving industry, Laurente flys the flag for the ‘good kids’. Laurente has been writing songs since around 9 years old, often bringing parody music written on paper to show and rap for his peers in primary school. The pursuit of music began at the same age, after his brother showed him a video of Daichi’s 2009 beatbox battle wildcard, kickstarting Laurente’s love for beatboxing, and his first steps into music production. During secondary school, Laurente planned to create his own beats purely through beatboxing, but discovered a new love for the art of electronically programmed sounds instead. And so, at 17, the young producer began his journey on Garageband. As a University student, Laurente sold beats made from Garageband, then went on to download FL Studio to compete with other producers around the 2018/19 period. During the Covid lockdown, Laurente honed his production skills, and finally picked up the mic himself, releasing his first song in 2021 at the age of 21.
