The jazz-pop duo 23rd Hour was created after a chance meeting between Sherry-Lynn Lee and George Paolini turned into a twenty three hour jam session. At the 23rd hour mark, the pair penned their first song "Perfect Strangers" together. The rare millennial-boomer partnership soon solidified as the pair explored the edges of their respective musical worlds and brought together their influences from jazz, classical, rock, folk, and pop. They come from different backgrounds, genres and eras, but when their individual aesthetics intertwine, they hit that sweet spot of subtle adventurousness epitomized by artists such as James Taylor, Norah Jones, and Zaz. George's jazzy guitar and Sherry-Lynn's smooth contemporary vocals and delicate piano riffs are part of 23rd Hour's signature sound. These elements permeate the band's catalog, whether it's a ballad ("Until the Daylight Comes", "Side by Side"), retro-pop ("Au Soleil"), indie jazz ("Sidelines Aren't for You") or holiday tunes ("Let a Day Together Be Christmas", "Have You Noticed the Season?", "Christmas Feels Lost Without You"). Sherry and George are working on new material for 23rd Hour, as well as for their individual solo projects.
