RENiMAAA ( Ren), is an artist from Brooklyn, New York. As a first generation, American Vincentian, he was exposed to traditional west indian culture snd lifestyle early while exposed to the American music, art and fashion culture. In 2010, he released songs on a group mixtape that would be distributed through high school. Respect from his friends led to him founding “Sus.Life”, (Souls United by Song Living In F*cked Environments) a collective of rappers, singers and artists that would perform from galleries, to NYC Subway carts, to various venues such as the Knitting Factory in NYC, AfroPunk, the Metro in Chicago and SXSW in Austin,TX. In 2016, he released “Billyclubs” his first song and self directed music video, accumulating way over 100,000 views. He was announced “Top 10 NY Emcees” by We Are Hip Hop,touted as an artist “who puts his heart into his music” and “a legend in the making...creating songs full of melodies, real lyrics, and speaking on topics we can’t ignore.” In 2018, he incorporated his visual talents into his music more, directing his own music videos such as “Blu”, “Rutland Rd” in 2019 and the acclaimed visual “Donnie Darko” (2020). Raquel Deeds of SOBs described it as “representing our current truth; pure confusion. His upcoming album, “Never Good Enough” seeks to continue this pattern of confronting the reality we live in while exploring the the depths of our minds and environments.
