Mawyd is a reggae band from Bordeaux which was born from the meeting of five musicians from various musical backgrounds. They expanded the formation with two singers to pay tribute to Jamaican music on the model of the I Threes of Bob Marley and The Wailers. During their studies in a music school, they met the guy who's now their FOH dub guy. The LIVE specificity of the band comes from the work of its reggae influences and also from a funk/hiphop groovy sound, distilling a rock energy inspired by soul music and openly jazz friendly. After an album made w/ Flox (including great General Levy), they celebrate the 10 years of this incredible adventure by concocting a new album! Again recorded at the Studio des Collines, this time under the artistic direction of the Californian pianist/composer/arranger Marcus Urani (Rising Tide/Groundation) as producer with collab of Jim Fox (Lion and Fox Recording Studios /Washington DC), exceptional guests went to embellish this new project including Winston McAnuff, Fixi, Cedric Myton from The Congos, Mingo Lewis Jr.. The band has performed since its creation nearly 400 shows through France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland, notably at Reggae Sun Ska (Fr), New Morning (Paris), Rock School Barbey theater (Bordeaux), Rolling Saône festival with Jimmy Cliff, La Nef/Angoulême (opening act for Winston McAnuff & Fixi) as well as several appearances for the Relâche festival and opening acts for Odezenne, Biga*Ranx, Rising Tide and many more.
