Called an "audio-diva superhero" by Solange’s blog Saint Heron, Hells Kitchen NYC based Minneapolis native AVA RAIIN (Michelle Renee) is always creatively exploring. Linked with producer David Sisko for her 2017 debut, the self-titled red album charted #9 on Billboard R&B album sales chart, ranked highly on 4 other Billboard charts and debuted #6 R&B and Top 40 all genres on iTunes. The visual for ‘Eagle Eye’ was featured on AfroPunk and selected Vimeo ‘Staff Pick’. RAIIN started with public school choirs growing up then moved to NYC where open mics resulted in work as a touring backing singer for artists like Melissa Etheridge, Solange, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jack Antonoff/Bleachers, Chrisette Michele, Blood Orange/Devonté Hynes; with contributions to recordings like Blood Orange Freetown Sound, on songs: Thank You, By Ourselves, Augustine, Juicy 1-4 and Saint on Negro Swan. RAIIN voices an AI 'Aero' in the 2022 award winning animated short film "Afro Algorithms" by Anatola Araba, with premiers at Lincoln Center in NYC and film festivals around the world. RAIIN is currently recording her sophomore album 'Scorpio Moon' (2023).
