IG: aja_the_writer Aja the Writer, originally from Detroit, grew up in a musically talented family; her grandmother being a touring gospel singer with The Trumpelettes and collaborating with popular artists like The Staple Singers, and her father being a talented singer as well. She has been writing songs for as long as she can remember, but just recently decided to get serious about her passion. Some may joke about why she added “the Writer” to her name but she has always stressed that she above all, wants people to understand where the passion originates from, and that’s her love to write. It’s hard to say she sounds like anybody out there right now, as she believes in creating her own lane, but she has mentioned her musical influences stemming from artists such as SZA, Ari Lennox, Kehlani, H.E.R., Summer Walker, and Chris Brown. Aja the Writer describes her R&B-like sound as catchy, authentic, and raw, as she’s always writing about a situation that she’s experienced, but gives the listener a catchy hook that they can relate to. She has recently released her debut single “Friend’s Don’t” ft. Chosen Duke which is the friend zone anthem of the year! Aja the Writer is looking forward to releasing her first studio album this year called “A.J.A. (A Journey to Aja)”, which will feature a couple up and coming artists, as well a mix of songs that’ll leave you wanting more. Stay tuned.
